Swiss talks included only brief discussion on nuclear issue — Tehran

22 June 2026 14:54

Iran’s delegation clearly and unequivocally presented its positions and views during the meeting in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated.

“There was a very brief discussion on the nuclear issue during the talks in Switzerland, but no details were discussed, and it cannot be said that negotiations on the nuclear file have begun,” Baghaei added.

The US-Iran talks at the Bürgenstock resort in Switzerland took place on June 21, 2026, as part of efforts to implement a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at de-escalating conflicts, including ceasefires and regional issues like Lebanon.

These high-level discussions, hosted by Switzerland as a neutral venue, involved senior US and Iranian delegations, alongside mediators from Qatar and Pakistan.

The talks focused on advancing the MOU framework, with some reports noting a brief or limited touch on nuclear matters amid broader ceasefire implementation and de-escalation goals; they reportedly concluded with agreements on steps like a monitoring mechanism ("deconfliction cell") for ceasefires.
