Chechnya opens first glass-processing plant in Grozny economic zone
Chechnya opened its first glass-processing plant, a facility with an annual production capacity of 100,000 square metres that regional authorities say will support construction projects and create new jobs.
The plant, located in the Grozny Special Economic Zone, was inaugurated by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, according to the state-run TASS news agency, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Speaking at the ceremony, Siluanov said the project demonstrated the region's focus on economic development and job creation.
"Today's opening of the plant is a good example of how the region is developing its economy, creating new jobs, including highly paid and skilled positions," he said. "We see that this production is in strong demand in the region."
Siluanov said the facility's products would be used primarily in the construction of a new district in Grozny named after Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"A major construction programme means a large number of orders for this enterprise. God willing, these projects will mark a new stage in the economic development of the Chechen Republic," he added.
The plant, operated by Steklostroy, occupies a 5,000-square-metre production complex equipped with a modern processing line capable of handling the full glass manufacturing cycle.
A key feature of the facility is its ability to produce jumbo-format glass panels, which are widely used in panoramic glazing for commercial and residential buildings.
The company is expected to create more than 40 jobs, according to officials.
