Over 100 volunteers receive medical aid during search for missing child in Ingushetia VIDEO

22 June 2026 16:14

More than 100 participants in the search operation for an eight-year-old boy who went missing in the Sunzha River in Russia’s Ingushetia region have required medical assistance, regional authorities said.

Doctors are working on site around the clock as the large-scale search and rescue operation continues for the child, identified as Khizir Derbichev, Caliber.Az reports.

Ingushetia head Makhmud-Ali Kalimatov said in a Telegram post that the search and rescue effort is now in its eighth day, with medical teams deployed continuously in the area.

“The search and rescue operation on the Sunzha River is now in its eighth day. Medical services are working here around the clock, without breaks or days off. During this time, assistance has already been provided to more than 100 search participants,” Kalimatov said.

He added that ambulance crews have been stationed nearby since the beginning of the operation to respond rapidly to emergencies.

According to Kalimatov, mobile medical units have also been deployed, staffed by volunteer doctors including general practitioners, surgeons, and other specialists working in shifts to ensure continuous coverage. He said all stations are supplied with essential medicines and first-aid equipment.

“Medical personnel are also stationed directly in the search areas so that assistance can be provided immediately, without delay,” he said, adding that doctors are advising volunteers on how to respond to risks including heatstroke, hypothermia, tick bites, and injuries.

Authorities said volunteers and medical teams remain in constant communication, providing guidance, recommendations, and on-site support as needed.

The search began on June 15, when the eight-year-old boy went missing in the Sunzha River near the town of Karabulak. An interagency emergency response headquarters has been established in the region, along with a warming and feeding center for search participants.

In addition to professional rescue services, thousands of volunteers and local residents have joined the operation. Volunteers from neighboring republics including Chechnya, Dagestan, North Ossetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, and Karachay-Cherkessia are also taking part in the ongoing search effort.
