Moscow criticizes Armenia over diverging EU, Russia statements

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has questioned the consistency of Armenia’s foreign policy, saying that Yerevan’s statements about maintaining close ties with Moscow do not align with its stated aspirations toward the European Union.

As Caliber.Az reports, she made the remarks in an interview with Russian media.

“We hear statements from Armenian officials about the importance of Moscow as a partner, about Yerevan’s intention to preserve and develop relations with Russia. But unfortunately, we do not see words matching the actions and steps of the Armenian leadership, which has clearly stated its aspiration to join the EU,” the diplomat said.
