Armenia’s armed forces get major upgrade under new defence program — minister

Armenia is set to allocate 150 billion drams (approximately $395 million) to advance its defence industry under the 2026–2028 development program, Defence Minister Suren Papikyan announced.
Speaking at a press conference, Papikyan emphasized the strategic importance of diversifying the country’s military procurement channels while simultaneously strengthening domestic production capabilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The minister further highlighted that, compared with 2018, Armenia’s overall defence expenditures have risen by $1.1 billion, reflecting the nation’s commitment to modernizing its armed forces and bolstering national security.
