Moscow expands gas exports to Türkiye, annual consumption up 13%
Russia increased its pipeline gas deliveries to Türkiye by 3% in January–November 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year, bringing total volumes to 18.9 billion cubic meters.
These figures are based on TASS calculations using data from Türkiye’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority.
The agency’s data shows that in November alone, Türkiye imported 1.2 billion cubic meters of Russian gas through the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines.
Over the first eleven months of 2025, Russia’s gas flow to Türkiye reached 18.9 billion cubic meters, reflecting a 3.4% rise. If liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments are also included—none were supplied in 2025—the overall increase in Russian gas deliveries to Türkiye for the January–November period amounts to just 1.7%.
For the full year 2024, Russia raised its pipeline gas supplies to Türkiye by 2.6%, to slightly above 21 billion cubic meters. Total Russian gas exports to Türkiye, including LNG, exceeded 21.5 billion cubic meters.
Russia currently exports gas to Türkiye via two pipelines running under the Black Sea. Blue Stream, commissioned in early 2003, has a design capacity of 16 billion cubic meters per year and stretches for 1,213 kilometres.
The TurkStream export pipeline consists of two parallel lines: one dedicated to serving the Turkish domestic market and the other supplying countries in Southern and Southeastern Europe. TurkStream’s combined capacity is 31.5 billion cubic meters, and it entered operation in January 2020.
Türkiye’s gas consumption in 2025 reached the highest level ever recorded, according to TASS computations based on data from the Turkish energy exchange EPIAS. Domestic demand last year approached 64 billion cubic meters, representing a 13% increase compared with 2024.
