Russia launches Oniks cruise missile in Barents Sea drill

Russia’s Northern Fleet frigate Admiral Gorshkov has conducted a training launch of an Oniks cruise missile in the Barents Sea, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

The missile was launched as part of planned combat training exercises and struck a target at the Chizha test range in the Arkhangelsk region, travelling more than 300 kilometres, Russian media reports.

The Defence Ministry said the launch was successful, with monitoring systems confirming that all flight and technical parameters were met.
