Chinese, Armenian leaders agree on new format of relations
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between Beijing and Yerevan during their meeting in Tianjin.
“The establishment of a strategic partnership is an important milestone in the development of relations between the two countries,” Xi Jinping said, Caliber.Az reports.
Pashinyan and Xi Jinping have met several times, notably in 2019 during Pashinyan’s visit to Beijing for the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations. During these meetings, both leaders emphasized deepening political, economic, and cultural ties. Discussions often focused on Armenia’s participation in the BRI, with potential joint projects in transportation, infrastructure, and information technology. China also supported Armenia through investments, such as the construction of the Chinese-Armenian Friendship School in Yerevan and contributions to the North-South Highway project.
