Erdoğan, Xi Jinping discuss regional, global issues in China

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) leaders’ summit in the Chinese city of Tianjin, where the Turkish leader is visiting.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations, Türkiye’s participation in SCO activities, as well as key regional and global issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Diplomatic sources reported that Erdoğan and Xi Jinping confirmed their readiness to strengthen the partnership in the political, economic, and energy sectors.

The 25th SCO Summit, underway from August 31 to September 1, 2025, in Tianjin, China, marks the fifth time China has hosted the annual event and is the largest in the organization’s history. Hosted at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, the summit brings together leaders from over 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations, reflecting its growing global influence.
