Reuters: Pakistani bombing in Afghanistan leaves 10 civilians dead
At least nine children and one woman were killed when Pakistani forces bombed the home of a local resident in Afghanistan’s Khost Province, Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Reuters on November 25.
According to Mujahid, Pakistan also conducted additional raids in Kunar and Paktika provinces, wounding four civilians.
“Last night at 12 o’clock in the Gerbzwo district of Khawst Province, Pakistani invading forces bombed the house of civilian local resident Wilayat Khan, resulting in the martyrdom of nine children (five boys and four girls) and one woman, and completely destroying their home,” Mujahid wrote in a post on X, sharing photographs of the victims.
Pakistan’s military and foreign ministry were unavailable for comment outside regular business hours.
The strikes follow twin suicide bombings in Peshawar a day earlier that killed three paramilitary personnel.
Pakistani and Afghan forces engaged in heavy clashes in October, leaving dozens dead in the most serious confrontation since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
Although both sides agreed to a ceasefire in Doha in October, subsequent peace talks in Türkiye collapsed without a long-term settlement due to disputes over militant groups operating inside Afghanistan that are hostile to Pakistan.
