Russia’s envoy thanks Azerbaijan for assistance in evacuating citizens from Iran

All Russian citizens who intended to leave Iran through Azerbaijan have now successfully departed, Russia’s Ambassador to Iran Alexei Dedov said.

In an interview with RTVI, the ambassador said that all individuals who had planned to exit had already done so. He also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani authorities and the Russian embassy in Baku for their consistent support in facilitating the departures, Caliber.Az reports per local media. 

Dedov further explained that foreign nationals require a special authorisation code to cross into Azerbaijan. 

He said the code is issued by Azerbaijani authorities and is typically processed within two days. To obtain it, individuals must contact the relevant embassy in advance and submit a request along with their passport details.
