Russia strikes Dnipro overnight, civilian casualties, major blazes reported Photo
Russia launched a nighttime attack on the city of Dnipro and the wider Dnipropetrovsk region, using drones and missiles, causing multiple fires, civilian casualties, and extensive damage, according to local authorities.
As reported by Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration head Serhiy Lysak on Telegram, as cited by Caliber.Az, air defence units managed to intercept seven missiles and 26 drones over the city and surrounding areas.
Despite these interceptions, several strikes hit civilian infrastructure.
In Dnipro, one man was killed and a woman was injured. A residential building and several industrial sites sustained damage, with fires breaking out, including on a car park where vehicles were set alight.
Additional fires were reported across the Dnipro district, including at a local shopping centre.
“Fires also erupted at an industrial facility and in multiple locations where dry grass caught fire,” Lysak said. “One person was killed, and four others were wounded.”
Elsewhere in the region, a guided aerial bomb (KAB) strike targeted the Pokrovska community in Synelnykove district, sparking a blaze.
Meanwhile, an FPV drone struck the Pokrovska community in Nikopol district, and further attacks were recorded on the Marhanets community.
Moreover, Russian forces launched a heavy, combined attack on Kharkiv overnight, targeting both infrastructure and emergency responders, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
"Kharkiv took another hit last night. More than 20 enemy strikes over nearly three hours — four guided aerial bombs, two ballistic missiles, followed by 15 Shahed drones," Terekhov said in a statement.
The bombardment caused damage to residential buildings, a civilian enterprise, roads and the city's contact network. Fires broke out in multiple locations, with seven still being tackled in Kyivskyi district as of July 26 morning.
Five people were injured, including three rescuers who were caught in a second wave of strikes.
“They were wounded after the initial hit — during a follow-up strike. The enemy is targeting those who save lives and respond to the aftermath of bombardments,” Terekhov noted.
City services, including energy crews, heating and water utilities, metro workers and street maintenance teams, were deployed to affected areas from the early hours.
