Jordan says air defences down eight Iranian ballistic missiles PHOTO / UPDATED
Jordan’s armed forces said their air defence systems intercepted and destroyed eight Iranian ballistic missiles, according to a communiqué carried by the Petra news agency.
“Jordanian air defence systems intercepted and shot down eight Iranian ballistic missiles. Specialized engineering and technical teams have been deployed in the areas where debris fell; no information has been received about casualties or material damage,” the statement said.
The General Command said the military is closely monitoring regional developments and remains at maximum operational readiness to defend the kingdom’s airspace.
“The Jordanian Armed Forces will not allow any party to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the kingdom,” the statement said.

Air raid sirens have been activated in Amman, Jordan’s capital, and several other cities across the kingdom amid Iranian retaliatory missile strikes following US attacks on Iranian territory.
Jordanian authorities alerted residents about Iranian missiles flying through the country’s airspace, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The authorities urged the public to remain alert as the missiles crossed Jordanian territory amid heightened regional tensions.
