Russia withdraws five submarines from Sevastopol
Russia has withdrawn five of the seven submarines from Sevastopol into the sea, which are part of the Black Sea Fleet.
Four of the submarines are in a state of readiness for combat operations, RBK-Ukraine reports, citing the Ukrainian news service “Krym.Realii" (Crimea.Realities).
Two submarines of a project 636.3 “Varshavyanka” from the 4th Separate Submarine Brigade are now moored to the berths on the eastern shore of the South Bay of Sevastopol.
The Russian Black Sea Fleet includes six submarines of the “Varshavyanka” project:
B-261 "Novorossiysk";
B-237 "Rostov-on-Don";
B-262 "Stary Oskol";
B-265 "Krasnodar";
B-268 "Veliky Novgorod";
B-271 "Kolpino".
The fleet also includes a submarine "Alrosa" based on project 877B "Halibut".
On June 28, Alrosa already entered sea trials after a long overhaul at the 13th shipyard of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The boat passed the boom gates and entered the outer roadstead of Sevastopol.
The boats of the Varshavyanka project are armed with “Kalibr” cruise missiles. Alrosa is also the carrier of these missiles after modernisation.
