Russian drone strikes hit Odesa region, at least one person injured, infrastructure damaged
Overnight drone strikes by Russian forces targeted the Odesa region in southern Ukraine, damaging energy infrastructure, residential buildings, and a hotel, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack left one person injured and caused widespread power outages across dozens of communities.
Regional authorities said that both energy and civilian infrastructure were hit in the strikes. Damage was reported to energy facilities as well as a hotel complex. One individual sustained injuries, and emergency crews responded immediately to assess the situation and begin repairs, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
Firefighters rescued two people from the affected hotel and extinguished a fire at the site. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service (SES) were dispatched to provide support to 21 people impacted by the incident.
In addition to the hotel, the strikes damaged two private homes and shattered windows on one of the floors of a 25-story residential building. In total, 44 settlements in the region were left without electricity.
Repair crews are working to restore the power supply, with generators currently providing electricity to critical infrastructure. Officials emphasised that emergency teams were quickly mobilized to deal with the aftermath.
According to official reports, the SES deployed 18 units of equipment and 70 personnel to the scene. The Ukrainian Volunteer Firefighters Association contributed one unit and four responders, while the city fire department sent one additional unit and four firefighters.
