Russian president set to visit China in September for historic WWII commemoration
Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to China in September to participate in commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over militaristic Japan, the country's Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced.
Shoigu made the statement during a meeting with Chen Wenqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The visit underscores the deepening strategic ties between Moscow and Beijing amid growing geopolitical tensions.
“We regard bilateral cooperation and strategic coordination in the international arena as one of the most vital components of the Russian-Chinese partnership,” Shoigu stated.
The top security official further asserted that the foreign policy partnership between Russia and China constitutes the principal stabilizing force in international affairs.
“The dialogue between the presidents of both nations serves as a pivotal and directive force in propelling the full spectrum of bilateral relations forward,” Shoigu added.
