Shoigu: Russia, Iran stepping up cooperation
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu has announced that cooperation between Russia and Iran is rapidly advancing.
Speaking after a series of high-level meetings in Iran, Shoigu highlighted the extensive and accelerating nature of this collaboration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"The scope of cooperation is broad, and we are seeing very high rates of progress in all spheres," Shoigu stated.
He detailed that discussions with the newly elected Iranian president and the secretary of the Iranian Security Council encompassed a wide range of topics.
Key issues included the situation in Syria, the alarming developments on the Lebanon-Israel border, and the recent tragic events in Tehran.
Shoigu also mentioned that the North-South transport corridor was a significant topic of discussion.
"We have made quite a lot of progress there," he noted, emphasizing the importance of this strategic initiative.
