Soldiers committing suicide, commanders out of loop What is going on in Armenia’s military units?
Certain senior officers of an Armenian armed forces military unit stationed in the town of Ararat are expected to be dismissed after the unit’s two soldiers committed suicide at combat posts.
Dismissals await the commander of the military unit and the commander of the 5th Army Corps because of their inactivity and lack of awareness of what is happening in the military unit, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Yerevan-based newspaper Zhoghovurd.
The publication notes that according to the initial version, the cases of the two soldiers who committed suicide have nothing to do with each other.
"We have received detailed information about the events that took place in the military unit before Hranik Hnkoyan committed suicide on August 11, and we also have all the details of the incident. But they are not being published so far so as not to harm the preliminary investigation," the newspaper writes.
