Russia downs 30 Ukrainian drones over five regions in overnight operation
Russian air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 30 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the airplane type during the night of June 4 to 5, according to a statement issued by Russia’s Defence Ministry.
According to the ministry, 15 drones were shot down over the Rostov region, followed by 11 over Crimea. Additionally, two more were destroyed over the Belgorod region, while one drone each was intercepted over the Moscow and Kursk regions, Caliber.Az reports.
The ministry has not reported any casualties or damage resulting from the attempted drone incursions.
Kyiv has ramped up its use of UAVs throughout the conflict, leveraging domestically manufactured and Western-supplied drones to conduct strikes on Russian territory. Targets have included airfields, logistics hubs, radar installations, and fuel depots. The use of low-cost drones has become a hallmark of Ukraine’s evolving military strategy aimed at disrupting Russian operations deep behind the frontlines.
