Humanitarian aid convoy from Dagestan heads to Iran via Azerbaijan
A humanitarian convoy carrying nearly 140 tonnes of aid for Iran has departed from Dagestan and is travelling through Azerbaijan en route to its destination, regional officials said.
According to TASS, the shipment consists of seven trucks loaded with essential food supplies, including flour, flour-based products and grains. The operation was confirmed by Andrei Tanaev, who represents the Dagestan government at Russia’s trade mission in Iran.
Tanaev said the delivery was organised with the support of Sergei Melikov. The convoy is expected to reach the Iranian border within approximately 12 hours, where it will be received by local authorities, Andrei Alenkin, and other representatives of the Russian side.
Multiple organisations took part in assembling the humanitarian shipment, including the Dagestan Red Cross Society, the Pure Heart Foundation, members of the Iranian diaspora in Makhachkala, deputies of the republic’s People’s Assembly, and the regional Association of Road Carriers.
