Armenian PM extends Eid al-Adha congratulations to Turkish leader
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 5, extending his congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant religious holidays in the Islamic world.
The information was disseminated by the press office of the Armenian government, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice (Gurban Bayram in Turkish), commemorates the Quranic story of the Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The holiday is marked by communal prayers, charitable giving, and the ritual sacrifice of animals, with the meat traditionally shared among family, neighbours, and those in need. It is one of the two major Islamic holidays and is celebrated by Muslims around the world.
During the conversation, President Erdoğan reciprocated the goodwill by congratulating Prime Minister Pashinyan on Armenia's upcoming role as host of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, scheduled for spring 2026. The summit is expected to bring together leaders from across the continent to discuss European cooperation, security, and regional stability.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral and regional issues, including the ongoing process of normalising Armenian-Turkish relations. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the dialogue.
