Street demonstrations paralyze European public life PHOTO
Weeks of street protests against unfavourable working conditions in Europe have completely paralyzed public services.
According to Yeni Şafak, complete mayhem is raging, with demonstrators throwing bottles and smoke bombs at security officials.
The publication notes that high inflation, poor working conditions and the governments' inability to find a solution to the situation are what enraged Europeans.
"In the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Spain, hundreds of thousands of people have turned the streets into a real battlefield, while trade union strikes themselves have paralyzed public life. The protests have undermined the work of state services, there are no doctors in hospitals, and teachers in schools", the article reports.
In Britain, given as an example, the decision of ambulance workers to strike due to low wages and poor working conditions made it virtually impossible to reach emergency centres.
The German postal authorities went on a two-day strike and the delivery of mail ceased, even in the public sector.
Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in France as well, heeding calls from unions that have rallied against government reforms of raising the retirement age. The bill by President Emmanuel Macron to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 has led the country into chaos, with more than a million people having participated in marches.
