Israel to showcase cutting-edge missile warning system at Paris Air Show
Israeli defence giant Elbit Systems will be showcasing its cutting-edge PAWS-2 (High Resolution) missile warning system at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget—an innovation expected to draw significant global attention for its potential to deliver unmatched air superiority.
The PAWS-2 (HR) is a next-generation passive infrared missile warning system developed specifically for fighter aircraft. Leveraging advanced infrared technology, the system is designed to detect a wide array of aerial threats, including surface-to-air missiles, air-to-air missiles, and shoulder-launched rockets, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Israeli media outlet Maariv.
Elbit Systems, recognised as a global leader in self-defence and electronic warfare (EW) technologies, has equipped the PAWS-2 (HR) with high-resolution sensors that dramatically enhance threat detection capabilities. The system is suitable not only for fighter jets, but also for transport aircraft and helicopters operating in high-risk, complex environments.
At the heart of the PAWS-2 (HR) lies a new-generation mid-wave infrared (MWIR) sensor boasting a resolution exceeding 5 megapixels. This enables long-range threat detection, precise identification of missile launch points, early warning alerts, and accurate targeting for countermeasures.
The system is engineered for high performance in crowded and signal-heavy environments, with an exceptionally low false-alarm rate. It also provides real-time tactical fire indication, detecting threats such as small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and anti-tank guided missiles.
For the record, the Paris Air Show, held biennially at Le Bourget near Paris, is the world’s oldest and largest aerospace exhibition. Since its inception in 1909, it has become the premier global event for showcasing the latest innovations in civil, military, and space aviation.
Bringing together manufacturers, defence contractors, government delegations, and aviation enthusiasts from around the world, the show features hundreds of aircraft displays, flight demonstrations, and cutting-edge technology exhibits. The 2025 edition continues this tradition, highlighting advances in sustainable aviation, electronic warfare, and aerospace innovation.
