Strike planned by Paris airports staff over Olympic bonuses
Staff at Paris airports Orly, Le Bourget, and Roissy are set to strike on Tuesday, May 21, demanding payment of bonuses for their work during the Olympic Games.
According to Le Parisien, the strike call was issued by major trade unions, including CGT, UNSA, CFDT, and FO, with a planned demonstration in front of Terminal 2E at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.
This action may potentially disrupt traffic on approach routes to the airport, as seen in past demonstrations.
Workers are demanding a one-off bonus for all employees deployed between July 8 and September 15, increased staffing to alleviate workload, early retirement options due to harsh working conditions, and salary hikes. The chosen date coincides with the meeting of the Airports de Paris (ADP) group's shareholders, adding symbolic weight to the protest.
In April, a strike by French air traffic controllers led to the cancellation of 75% of flights at Paris Orly Airport and 65% of flights at Paris-Roissy and Marseille.
