Sweden to prosecute person for fundraising for PKK/YPG terrorists
In Sweden, within a few weeks, a court hearing will be held in the case of a local resident who raised funds for the needs of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.
According to Anadolu, citing state radio SR, the defendant is charged with "financing terrorism, attempted extortion and armed assault."
This kind of trial in connection with the financing of terrorists PKK/YPG will be held in the Scandinavian country for the first time.
“PKK terrorists are accused of raising money through blackmail in Sweden. This is part of a more complex activity that has been carried out in an organized manner for a long time. The scope of the investigation is expanding as the investigation continues,” prosecutor Hans Irman told SR.
According to him, Swedish law enforcement agencies have collected evidence that the PKK, as in other countries, uses blackmail to raise funds illegally.
“Attempting to finance terrorism should be considered a serious crime, as there is a risk that the funds will be spent on terrorist attacks. In 2022 alone, the RKK was involved in 54 acts of violence around the world. Many civilians died as a result of these attacks,” he added.
