Syrian rebels seize key positions as Assad’s army withdraw, ISIS threat looms VIDEO
Syrian regime forces have withdrawn from several positions, prompting the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to deploy their troops in anticipation of potential ISIS attacks.
The SDF-aligned “Al-Tabaqah Military Council Forces” seized control of key positions in the Al-Raqqah countryside as a precautionary step to counter expected ISIS offensives, Caliber.Az reports citing Syrian sources.
These forces were stationed at the Al-Thawrah oil field, Al-Rasafah village, Safyan area, and Inbaj, located at the junction of Athariyah road, where regime forces had previously pulled out, heading towards the Maadan district.
Additionally, the SDF advanced in the northern Aleppo countryside after engaging in clashes with Turkish-backed factions. They gained control of the Babiry water station, the main source of water for Aleppo City, and secured Khafsa Town in southern Manbij countryside, east of Aleppo, following intense fighting with factions of the Turkish-backed “National Army.” The SDF also expanded towards Kuwairas Military Airport after the “National Army” factions had captured Al-Shuhabaa and Tel Refaat in the northern Aleppo countryside.
