Tajik president appoints new ambassador to US
President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, has approved a series of senior diplomatic and government appointments, including the naming of a new Tajik ambassador to the United States.
Rahmon has appointed Zavqi Zavqizoda as Tajikistan’s new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tajik media.
Zavqizoda previously served as Minister of Economic Development and Trade, a post from which he has now been released in connection with his new role.
In other diplomatic changes, Manuchehr Jobir has been appointed ambassador to Austria, Jamshed Khomidzoda to France and Jamoliddin Ubaidulloev to Italy.
At the same time, the ambassadors previously serving in the US, Austria, and France have been relieved of their duties.
