Tajik president embarks on working visit to Qatar, US trip to follow
President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, has embarked on a working visit to the State of Qatar to take part in the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Following his visit to Qatar, President Rahmon is scheduled to travel to Washington, DC, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump to participate in a regional meeting dedicated to social development, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tajik media.
At Dushanbe International Airport, the Tajik leader was seen off by the parliamentary chairmen, the head of the Executive Office of the President, and other senior government officials.
Pursuant to United Nations General Assembly Resolutions, the world community will convene the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025.
Thirty years after the landmark 1995 Summit in Copenhagen, this gathering will serve as a pivotal moment to reinvigorate the global commitment to social progress amid mounting inequalities, shifting demographics, and the accelerating pace of technological change.
Building on the 10 Commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration, the Second Summit will seek to advance efforts toward poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, and the strengthening of social inclusion — ensuring that no one is left behind in an increasingly interconnected world.
In Doha, world leaders will deliberate on new strategies to promote social justice, deepen international cooperation, and design inclusive policies that expand equitable opportunities for all. The overarching ambition of the Summit is to catalyze renewed momentum toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to foster societies that are more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable.
