Tragic bus overturn in southeastern Iran claims 14 lives, injures 29

31 March 2025 09:15

A devastating bus accident occurred on the Kerman–Ravar highway in Kerman Province, southeastern Iran, on March 30, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and leaving 29 others injured.

The incident took place at approximately 17:00 on the 75th kilometer of the Kerman-Ravar axis, near the Khorasani Pass, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

The bus, which was carrying a group of 43 passengers, was en route from Jiroft to Mashhad, one of the holiest cities in Iran. Emergency response teams, including rescue workers and traffic police, swiftly arrived at the scene to assist the victims and begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.

The injured, including five individuals in critical condition, were immediately transported to Shahid Bahonar Hospital in Kerman for treatment. Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the accident, but investigations are ongoing.

Mojtaba Ostovarzade, a spokesperson for the Kerman Provincial Court’s public relations department, confirmed the details of the incident and stated that the passengers were on a pilgrimage trip when the bus overturned.

This tragic accident marks another in a series of recent transportation-related incidents in the region. Earlier this year, on January 5, two people lost their lives, and eight others were injured in a bus collision in Türkiye's Sarykamysh district, located in the Kars province.

The authorities are continuing their work at the scene, with both rescue and law enforcement teams ensuring the welfare of the survivors while seeking answers to the tragedy.
