Trump excludes sub-Saharan African leaders from Board of Peace
None of the leaders of sub-Saharan African countries were invited by US President Donald Trump to join the Board of Peace for Gaza that he launched on January 22 in Davosm Switzerland.
According to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), the only African leaders to receive invitations were Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Moroccan King Mohammed VI, both of whom accepted, Caliber.Az reports.
Africa’s largest regional body, the African Union, has 55 member states, 48 of which are located south of the Sahara
South Africa was notably excluded from the initiative, despite being ranked first on the continent in terms of GDP and holding significant diplomatic influence.
Responding to questions about the exclusion, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that he had not received an invitation from President Trump and therefore had not paid attention to the matter.
