Trump invites Belarus to join founding members of new Board of Peace
The United States has invited Belarus to become a founding member of a new international organisation, the Board of Peace, proposed by President Donald Trump.
The offer was conveyed directly to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Caliber.Az reports, citing the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement, the ministry said the proposal was made in the context of efforts to resolve the situation in Gaza. Belarus was singled out as a state “ready to assume the noble responsibility of building lasting peace and leading by example, investing in a safe and prosperous future for generations to come.”
The ministry added that the offer also reflects recognition of Lukashenko’s personal achievements and international standing.
“The proposal has been reported to the President of the Republic of Belarus and was received positively,” said MFA spokesperson Ruslan Varankov.
“Our position is that we are ready to participate in the activities of the Board of Peace, while hoping that the organisation will broaden its scope and powers beyond the mandate outlined in the initiative. This will allow it to engage actively in global conflict resolution processes and contribute to the construction of a new security architecture, which Belarus has promoted in recent years.”
On January 15, Trump welcomed the establishment of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), advancing Phase Two of his Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. The NCAG, led by Dr Ali Sha’ath, will oversee public service restoration, civil institution rebuilding, and stabilisation of daily life in Gaza.
In parallel, the Board of Peace, chaired by President Trump, has been formed to provide strategic oversight, mobilise international resources, and ensure accountability across all 20 points of the plan.
The Board’s founding Executive Board includes: Secretary Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Sir Tony Blair, Marc Rowan, Ajay Banga, and Robert Gabriel, each responsible for critical portfolios such as governance, reconstruction, and investment. Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum will serve as senior advisors, managing daily strategy and operations.
Nickolay Mladenov has been appointed High Representative for Gaza, linking the Board to the NCAG, while Major General Jasper Jeffers will command the International Stabilisation Force, ensuring security and enabling humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.
A Gaza Executive Board has also been formed, including regional and international leaders, to support governance and service delivery. The United States, together with Israel, key Arab states, and the global community, remains committed to supporting the transition and the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan. Additional Board members will be announced in the coming weeks.
