Trump reiterates hardline stance on Iran nuclear programme
U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his position that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons, while also claiming that recent regional conflicts and the October 7 attacks on Israel reinforced his stance.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he was not influenced by Israel in decisions regarding Iran, but that events following the October 7 attacks shaped and strengthened his long-standing belief that Iran should be prevented from developing nuclear weapons, Caliber.Az reports.
“Israel never talked me into the war with Iran, the results of Oct. 7th, added to my lifelong opinion that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON, did. I watch and read the FAKE NEWS Pundits and Polls in total disbelief,” he wrote.
He also repeated unverified claims that media coverage and polling data are “fake” or manipulated, and drew comparisons to the 2020 U.S. presidential election, alleging it was “rigged.” Trump further accused media outlets and commentators of spreading false narratives about U.S. policy and the situation in Iran.
“90% of what they say are lies and made up stories, and the polls are rigged, much as the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged. Just like the results in Venezuela, which the media doesn’t like talking about, the results in Iran will be amazing - And if Iran’s new leaders [Regime Change!] are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!” hr wrote.
