Trump says Iran will halt uranium enrichment despite stalled talks
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday, May 12, that Iran would halt uranium enrichment and abandon any effort to develop a nuclear weapon, despite ongoing stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Speaking in an interview on WABC’s Sid and Friends in the Morning, Trump expressed confidence about the outcome of the talks.
“100% they’re going to stop,” Trump said.
The president also indicated that he has been personally involved in contacts with Iranian officials during the negotiation process.
“I deal with them,” Trump said. “And they said that we’re going to get the dust. I call it the nuclear dust because it’s appropriate. And we’re going to get it.”
Trump emphasised that the United States is not under pressure to quickly reach an agreement, pointing to existing leverage.
“We’re not going to rush anything, we have a blockade,” Trump said.
