Turkish leader, European Council president discuss just, lasting peace in Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has emphasised the possibility of establishing a just and lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine in a recent phone call with European Council President Antonio Costa.
During the phone call, President Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye's long-standing commitment to peace, noting that a fair and durable resolution to the conflict is achievable, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
President Erdogan further emphasised that Türkiye has consistently sought to mediate peace efforts from the onset of the conflict, underlining the country's dedication to fostering a peaceful solution.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in an interview with the Qatari Al Jazeera TV channel, expressed Ankara's hope to see concrete steps toward resolving the crisis in Ukraine by the summer. The minister said that a dialogue mechanism between the US and Russia is currently being established. In his view, it will be possible to see something concrete by the summer.
