Turkish ombudsman: Moscow terror attack aimed at obstructing Russia-Ukraine peace talks
In the wake of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall near Moscow, Turkish Ombudsman Seref Malkoc has asserted that the perpetrators aimed to derail efforts to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Malkoc expressed his opinion that the timing of the attack coincides with periods of attempted reconciliation between Moscow and Kyiv. He emphasized that whenever there is progress towards peace talks, such incidents occur, causing delays in the resolution of the conflict, as reported by Sabah.
The ombudsman cautioned against hastily attributing the attack to the "Islamic State" (IS, ISIL), suggesting a broader context behind the incident. He noted that recent months have seen promising developments in the path towards peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, raising hopes for positive outcomes in the near future.
Malkoc characterized the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall as sabotage, given its timing and potential implications on peace efforts. His remarks underscore the complexity of the situation and hint at possible motives behind the attack.
