Turkiye arrests 269 over quake destructions

The number of people arrested in Turkey in connection with the destruction caused by the February earthquakes with an epicentre in the province of Kahramanmarash has risen to 269.

Investigative measures in connection with the large-scale consequences of the disaster are continuing, according to Anadolu.

The Prosecutor-General's Office has established that 1,068 people were involved in substandard construction that resulted in human casualties. On their own recognizance, 320 suspects were released.

Furthermore, arrest warrants were issued for 228 suspects, and detention warrants were issued for 106 more.

At the same time, it was discovered that 43 of the suspects are no longer alive, and 14 are abroad.
