At the 5th anniversary of the Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX-2024) in Baku, products from 55 Turkish companies were showcased, including notable items such as HÜRKUŞ, Bayraktar TB2, AKINCI, and SHAHİN.
A total of 270 companies from 40 countries participated in ADEX, which focuses on defence and communication technologies, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
This includes participants from the US, Germany, the UK, China, and Russia, with a significant presence from Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
Among the exhibitors were renowned Turkish defence companies such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN, ASFAT, BAYKAR, and ULAK.
With 55 exhibiting companies, Türkiye emerged as the country with the highest representation at ADEX.
Key projects from the Turkish defence industry, including HÜRKUŞ, Bayraktar TB2, and AKINCI, as well as products from ROKETSAN and ASELSAN, were prominently displayed at the exhibition. Participants showed great interest in the technologies presented and took commemorative photos against the backdrop of the exhibits.
HÜRKUŞ opens doors to national platforms
Visitors to the exhibition were introduced to various products from the Turkish defence sector. The HÜRKUŞ, a new training aircraft developed by TUSAŞ, made its first flight 11 years ago. Named after Vecihi Hürkuş, a pioneer of Turkish aviation, it has facilitated the development of other national platforms. Starting with HÜRKUŞ, Türkiye's series of manned and unmanned aircraft innovations has culminated in the development of the KAAN national fighter aircraft.
The Bayraktar TB2 tactical drone project, initiated by BAYKAR in 2012, conducted its first fully automatic flight in 2014 and entered service the same year. Due to its battlefield success, the Bayraktar TB2 has gained attention from numerous countries and has become the world's best-selling strike drone, establishing Türkiye as a leader in this field.
A wide range of products from missiles to missile systems
Numerous ROKETSAN products were featured, including MAM-L, MAM-T, and MAM-T IIR mini smart munitions, as well as the TEBER and LAÇİN guided kits and SOM missiles.
Other ROKETSAN offerings included the İHA-122 and İHA-230 supersonic air-to-ground ballistic missiles, the KARAOK short-range anti-tank missile system, the CİRİT laser-guided missile, and the OMTAS medium-range anti-tank missile system.
SHAHİN and TASMUS debut internationally
ASELSAN showcased the HERİKKS 600-T system, designed to counter miniature and micro unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, and aeroplanes, along with the KALKAN-100G and AURA-100G radars. These systems have been successfully deployed in the Turkish Armed Forces and exported to other nations.
The ŞAHİN physical destruction system, developed by ASELSAN to neutralize miniature and micro aerial vehicles, was presented internationally for the first time at ADEX 2024. Upon receiving target designation from a detection system, the ŞAHİN automatically aims and engages targets with a 40-millimeter ATOM munition.
Additionally, the TASMUS multi-band mobile communication tool, designed to provide high-speed communications for mobile command posts, also made its international debut at ADEX 2024.
