Iran condemns US military aid to Israel as "reward for criminals" amid Gaza civilian casualties
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, has condemned the United States' new military aid package to Israel, valued at $8.7 billion, labelling it a "reward for criminals from the client."
Kanaani stated that, in light of the civilian casualties in Gaza, the actions of the Israeli army cannot be justified as self-defence, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
"These funds are merely a reward for killers and criminals from the client. The world has no doubt that the American regime is a primary partner in the military crimes of the Israeli regime, which includes the genocide of Palestinians and the current atrocities against the Lebanese people," he said.
Notably, on September 26 Israel announced that it is to receive a military aid package from the US amounting to $8.7 billion. This announcement coincides with four consecutive days of intensive Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, described as the most significant since the 2006 war.
Major General Eyal Zamir, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence, has completed negotiations in Washington for the substantial aid package, which includes $3.5 billion allocated for urgent wartime procurement already transferred to the Israeli Ministry of Defence (IMoD). An additional $5.2 billion is earmarked for enhancing air defence systems, including the Iron Dome, David's Sling, and a cutting-edge laser system.
Israel currently operates several missile interception systems, such as David's Sling, Arrow, and the Iron Dome. The Ministry of Defence indicated that the funds and equipment are expected to be delivered shortly.
