Türkiye eyes supplying gas via Bulgaria to other EU countries

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez has said that Turkish gas deliveries may reach other European countries through Bulgaria.

Commenting on the 13-year contract to supply Bulgaria with 1.5 billion cubic metres of gas per year, Donmez noted that the agreement between Turkish BOTAS and Bulgarian Bulgargaz was reached just three weeks after the two presidents met in Istanbul, Anadolu Agency reported on January 5.

"Türkiye is contributing to Bulgaria's energy security. A total of 20 billion cubic metres of gas are involved in the contract. If the necessary conditions are formed, Türkiye will be able to organise gas trade through Bulgaria, that is, to cover the gas needs of third countries," Donmez said.
