Earlier, Putin expressed his eagerness to welcome foreign leaders and visitors to Moscow on May 9, 2025, for the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, commemorating the Soviet Union's triumph in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has already pledged to attend the event. Discussions about the celebration took place during Fico's recent meeting with Putin in Moscow.
President Putin emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made to defeat Nazism and extended invitations to representatives of Russia's World War II allies. The Russian Foreign Ministry is overseeing the formal invitations, with plans to include veterans and key figures from the anti-Hitler coalition.
