Media: Iran reopens Strait of Hormuz, imposes limits on ship traffic

Iran’s armed forces have reopened the Strait of Hormuz, but only a limited number of vessels will be allowed to transit the strategic waterway each day, Fars news agency reports, citing an informed source.

The source said that maritime traffic through the strait will be regulated through a permit system, with the number of vessels authorized to pass varying from day to day depending on prevailing conditions.

According to the report, the volume of permits issued for transit through the waterway will be adjusted in line with circumstances at the time.
