Netherlands remains Kazakhstan’s largest foreign investor
The Netherlands continues to be the largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan, with cumulative investments surpassing $125 billion, according to Dana Kasymova, Acting Chair of the Board of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Foreign Trade.
Speaking during the second meeting of the Kazakhstan–Netherlands Business Council on Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation, held in Astana, she noted that the substantial Dutch investment in Kazakhstan is largely driven by the participation of Dutch companies in major energy projects, including the Karachaganak and Kashagan oil and gas fields in the Caspian region, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
More than 700 companies with Dutch participation are currently registered in Kazakhstan, underscoring the strong business ties between the two countries.
Bilateral trade also showed positive growth in 2025, reaching approximately $6 billion. Kazakhstan’s exports to the Netherlands increased during the period, while imports from the European country declined slightly.
During the business council meeting, representatives from both countries discussed opportunities to expand cooperation across several sectors, including industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and transportation.
