EU, Kazakhstan sign transport, aviation, infrastructure cooperation deals
The European Union and Kazakhstan have signed a package of cooperation agreements covering transport, infrastructure, industry and aviation during a visit by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Brussels on June 23.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of European Union leaders and the Kazakh president, Caliber.Az reports via domestic media.
Among the agreements signed were an EU–Kazakhstan air transport agreement, a loan arrangement for the modernisation of transport infrastructure under the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, and two memoranda of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
A commercial contract was also concluded for the delivery of Airbus aircraft to Kazakhstan’s national carrier Air Astana.
The agreements are aimed at strengthening economic, transport, and investment cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan, particularly in the context of expanding connectivity along the Trans-Caspian route.
