Ankara hosts simulation of Turkic states assembly with 400 students PHOTO
A seminar simulating the assembly of Turkic states is being held in the Turkish capital, Ankara, bringing together around 400 students, academics and public figures to discuss challenges facing the Turkic world, organisers said on June 23.
The event, known as the Model Assembly of Turkic States Simulation (TÜRKAS), is taking place at Hacı Bayram Veli University and has been organised through cooperation between several academic and cultural institutions, including the Yunus Emre Institute, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, university officials and representatives from Türkiye and Azerbaijan highlighted the importance of strengthening ties across the Turkic world through education and cultural exchange.
Among those attending were Hacı Bayram Veli University Vice-Rector Metin Orbay, Yunus Emre Institute Vice-President Ömer Yıldız and Samir Abbasov, head of the Cultural Centre at Azerbaijan's embassy in Türkiye.
As part of TÜRKAS 2026, students are participating in 10 committees tasked with examining current issues affecting Turkic countries and proposing policy solutions from different perspectives.
The opening ceremony included a film presentation on the programme as well as musical and dance performances.
