Russian opera singer rescued after jumping off bridge in Moscow
German Yukavsky, an Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation and opera singer, was rescued after an jumping off a bridge in central Moscow, according to Russian emergency services.
A source cited by TASS said the incident occurred on Bolotnaya waterfront, where Yukavsky reportedly jumped into the water from a bridge before being rescued by emergency responders.
According to the source, the 56-year-old singer had allegedly been drinking alcohol prior to the incident. Emergency services said preliminary information suggested the event followed an argument with a woman.
Yukavsky was subsequently transported to a specialised medical facility for further evaluation and care.
The singer is a soloist with the B. A. Pokrovsky Moscow State Academic Chamber Music Theatre. Authorities have not released additional details regarding his condition.
