Magnitude 4.4 earthquake shakes north-west Georgia

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 struck Georgia on the morning of June 23, according to the National Institute for Earth Studies (IES), with no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The tremor was recorded at 08:07 local time (07:07 GMT) on June 23, 2026. Seismologists said it was a noticeable quake.
The epicentre was located around 260 kilometres north-west of the capital Tbilisi, in the direction of Ambrolauri, near the village of Khonchiori. The earthquake originated at a depth of about 20 kilometres.
Authorities have not reported any injuries or structural damage so far.
