Two dead, seven injured in shooting at Wildberries Office in Russia Investigative Committee says
Russia's Investigative Committee has announced that two people have been killed and seven others injured, including law enforcement officers, in a shooting at a Wildberries office in Moscow.
The incident occurred at the online retailer's office located on Romanov Lane in Moscow on September 18, 2024, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"According to the preliminary information, a shooting occurred at the Wildberries office, resulting in seven injuries, including two law enforcement officers who had responded to the scene to address the unlawful actions. Unfortunately, two individuals succumbed to their injuries. All victims have been hospitalised and are receiving necessary medical treatment," the Investigative Committee wrote on Telegram.
The Investigative Committee added that witnesses are currently being interviewed and surveillance camera footage is being reviewed. Earlier Russian media reported that the shooting at the office was carried out by individuals accompanying Vladislav Bakalchuk. There was an attempted illegal intrusion at two separate locations. Bakalchuk claimed that he and his team were attacked when they arrived at the office on Romanov Lane for negotiations regarding the halt of warehouse construction.
In response, Wildberries CEO Tatyana Bakalchuk stated, "The claim that an armed group arrived for supposed negotiations is absurd, as no such negotiations were arranged. This is clearly an attempt at a hostile takeover, or rather, an unsuccessful one." She has publicly called on law enforcement agencies to take control of the situation and to make the results of the investigation public.
