Ukraine official: Some 150 civilians found dead in Kharkiv
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, rescuers have dismantled the rubble at 98 facilities in Kharkiv.
The bodies of 150 dead Kharkiv residents were found under these rubbles.
"In Kharkiv, our units have completely dismantled 98 locations where there are blockages. Unfortunately, more than 150 bodies of the dead have been removed from the rubble. During the operational rescue operations, our units rescued more than 250 people," Correspondent.net reports referring to Anatoly Toryanik, deputy head of the main Department of the State Service for Emergency Situations in the Kharkiv region, said this on the air of the national telethon.
The districts of Kharkiv, Severnaya Saltovka, Pyatikhatki, Zhukovsky settlement, Rogan and Horizon, which are located closer to the line of collision, where the occupiers could get artillery, suffered the most from massive shelling.
According to the chief rescuer of the Kharkiv region, Kharkiv rescuers have been working under no timeline since the beginning of the invasion and there has not been a single fire started as a result of shelling, to which they could not respond. Two rescuers were killed while extinguishing fires, seven were injured - they came under repeated shelling. Three sapper rescuers were also killed.
Kharkiv region has become a leader in the number of destroyed or damaged cultural heritage sites. Russian troops damaged or destroyed 94 objects in the region, 78 of them in Kharkiv.
