Ukraine receives second batch of F-16 jets from Denmark
Ukraine has received the second batch of F-16 fighter jets from Denmark as part of ongoing efforts to enhance its air defence capabilities. This delivery marks another significant step in the collaboration between Ukraine and its Western allies.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the arrival of the jets in a statement shared on Telegram channel, noting that they are already in operation, Caliber.Az reports.
"The second batch of F-16s from Denmark has arrived in Ukraine. This is an example of leadership in defending lives that sets Denmark apart," Zelenskyy wrote.
The first batch of F-16s from Denmark is already operational, playing a key role in intercepting Russian missiles and protecting civilian lives and critical infrastructure.
Zelenskyy underscored the importance of these new additions to Ukraine's air defence system, expressing appreciation to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the Danish people.
This delivery is part of the broader aviation coalition initiative, which aims to strengthen Ukraine’s air combat capabilities. In August 2024, Ukraine received its first batch of these advanced fighter jets from Denmark and the Netherlands.
Denmark has pledged to provide a total of 19 F-16 jets to Ukraine. Six were delivered earlier this year, and the remaining 13 will be provided in two further phases, including this latest delivery.
