Ukraine to review expediency of studying Russian writers in schools

14 April 2022 12:44

In Ukraine, the works of Russian writers who “propagated the ideas of Nazism” may be excluded from the course “Foreign Literature” in schools. All recommended works will be reviewed.

It is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the Minister of Education and Science Sergei Shkarlet during the telethon.

According to him, last week, within the framework of the discipline "Foreign Literature", a working group of specialists was assembled who will clearly assess the need for the presence of Russian authors in the course "Russian Literature".

“Again, there are no complaints against Heine and Schiller, they did not promote the ideas of Nazism. We have Gogol. We will be very deeply reviewing all the works that have been recommended so far, and we will be very critical of the content of this subject, even on selected works,” he said.
